Principle Investigator

Jian Zhou
Dr. Jian Zhou joined the State University of New York at Binghamton as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Fall 2023. He conducted postdoctoral research at Argonne National Laboratory and received his Ph.D. from Binghamton University. His research focuses on innovating new paradigms of nanodevices and tools to measure what was previously unmeasurable, thereby opening new regimes for precision sensing, control, and imaging. He is the co-inventor of a bio-inspired flow microphone, a vector-based sound sensing technology currently commercialized by Soundskrit. His research has been supported by major federal agencies, including the NIH and NSF, and highlighted by leading journals and media outlets, including PNAS, Nature Physics, Scientific American, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the BBC.
